Default Valve cover gasket

If I was going to replace the valve cover gaskets, do I have to remove the intake?

Seems like a lot of work for a valve cover, if thats the case.

If so is there anything I should do while I'm at it?

Thanks in advance.

How many miles on the truck, how bad is the leak?
To answer your question yes, you will have to remove the top half of the intake and yes, if yo are going to do this, order a good set of Magnacor 8mm. plug wires and install them at the same time, make plug wire replacement much easier.
Also do an engine oil flush before removing the vc's and once off, use a can or two of carb cleaner to clean off as much sludge build up as you can, then after putting it back together change the oil.

As always Mike, thanks.....you should get a raise!

The truck has about 94K on it- The leak isn't too bad at really, its getting some of the lower engine "wet" and maybe some rare small drips but I can smell the oil burning when I get out of it.

Its the original set of wires- I'd assume I'm about due anyway? How long can the OEM wires go for?

Is there anything I should take note of, or any odd things I may run into when removing the upper half?

At 94K, your wires are tired so replace them. I always recommend Magnacor 8mm. wires, the price is right, around $67 and they are built well. Check out Rover Connection on the web.
As for removing the upper half, no it is not a big deal, remember where all the parts go, clean everything with carb cleaqner before it goes back together and seal it up well.
If you want to take advantage of the new wires extra voltage abikities, throw in a set of Bosh Platium Plus 4's and get alot of extra low end torque.
