Default Vibration / taking out the front driveshaft?

im thinking about taking it out to see if its my vibration, Problem: i dont have CDL. Does this mean i cant take it out and drive it? Should i try and get my tires balanced first? I get the vibration above 65, with power and off power? Its starting to tick me off

If you have a 99 D2 and you think it is the front drive shaft, I would check the double cardon joints that hook to the t/case, see if they have any grease fittings, if not get them changed out cause they are know to failing causing lots of damage including the transmission.
No, you can't drive with out your CDL engaged, but you have CDL so you might want to crawl under the truck, looking for a fitting, towards the back and top of the t/case, that does not have a linkage attached to it, Once you find it, you can turn the little stub with a wrench to engage and disengage the CDL!!!!!
Start there and let us know how it goes.

How many miles are on the clock?

As mentioned by Disco Mike biggest problem is UJs on the Double Cardon joint, either change it or have new UJs fitted to the Double Cardon, there should be a grease nipple on the front UJ where it goes into the diff.

Changing the front propshaft (driveshaft) is 20-30 minute job depending on what facilities you have, all you need is two 14mm spanners

Wheel alignment and tyre ballancing is something I do frequently because I use my Disco a lot off road, and it is surprising how much adjustment is required after a rough trip.

Wrenches for you bloody Yanks.

We had two discos in the shop for the same problem.

One guy got nervous and we fixed his problem and he drove in and out in one day.

The next guy ignored it and got towed to the shop with a broken one.

Since you cant grease the front cardon double joint as a technician I say replace the ujoints on or before 75k/

You might be able to.

I do know a few guys had them taken out and then took the joints to a driveshaft rebuilder and had the ujoints replaced along with the shaft rebalanced in the process.

Not a bad idea if I say so myself.
