Default water leaking from headliner.. :S

Ok, so it's been raining alot over here, and I now have water leaking from the rear left passenger side of the headliner as well as right behind the A/C vent on the left hand side in the back.

Is it a hose that is loose?

Input would be great!

Thanks!

Was a common problem on Rangies and D1s, the drain hoses would get clogged and water would backflow into the headliner. Don't know if the DIIs have the same drainage system but if they do you want to blow air into the 4 drain hoses (2 in the front of the sunroof and 2 in the rear). Just open your sunroof and look for the drain holes along at each corner.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like a plan!

Where would the water drain so I can make sure the water is actually leaving the truck!

Thanks!

I believe they drain tubes run down the inside of the door jambs, under the "A" & "B" pillars

Ok, well.. since I am not familiar with that, would it happen to be the front driver/passenger doors because I am getting water coming in through my seatbelt on both sides...

One should drain down the A pillar (as mentioned by Ish) and the rear ones should drain by the C pillar (I guess that's what they call the pillar behind the rear dorrs.

Now, if the drains are clogged then water will stay in the sunroof rails and could leak anywhere, get the picture?

Here's a pic of the front drain on a Rangie:

and here is a pic of the C pillar (it's the black piece). The drain hose is inside that pillar and comes out by the wheel well:

What you should try to do is blow some air or use a coat hanger and see if you can unclog the drains.

Again, I'm not sure if the DII is the same as the Rangie but it's worth a try.

Good luck.

had the same problem in the front when it would be pouring rain. what I found was happening, is that the drain tubes could not keep up with the incoming flow and would cause the water to come in through the dirt that had gattered on the rubber seal and on the inside edges of the sunroof. I came to that conclusion by simply taking a silicone spray and cleaning the rubber seal and the inside edges of the sunroof glass. Problem was solved.

When your sunroofs close, they close on the inner ring. Water gets on the suroundings of that inner ring where the evacuation tubes are located. If the tubes are clogged, the water stays there with nowhere to go until it can make its way into the cab through the dirt that built up on the rubber seal I told you about and the outside edges of the glass.

oh ok! Thanks Steph!

Now, is it an easy job to blow out the dirt that is stuck? Where does the water drain from so I can see if it is actually draining...

With the silicone spray, did you spray it on the outside? and what does that do? I'm so sorry for asking stupid questions, I just want to make sure I do everything right!

Thank you so so so much!!

I really appreciate everyone's help!

I have a 04 D2 and for the life of me I cannot see any drain outlets whatsoever. There only appears to be the rubber seal.
