Default Water Pump Mystery Hole + Leak..

Hi all, I have a 96 Disco and have FINALLY tracked down the misery of why i have been losing fluid and overheating. On the side of the water pump there is a small hole (meant to be there not created by rock or something) and the fluid is dripping out of it. Now i have searched high and low as to what it is there for and i can find nothing saying what it does, i checked RAVE and in all the pics there is no sign of this small 2-3 mm hole.

I was going to just plug it up but i thought i better ask if it is safe to do so first..

Thanks in advance, Timbo.

Your pump is "Weeping" and that drainage indicates your pump is shot and it's time for a new one...

The hole is there to tell you the water pump seal is going bad.
If you plug it the coolant will get to the front water pump bearing and take it out and you will be putting in a new radiator when the pump comes apart and the fan hit it.

Don't plug it.

Why would you have to ask that question??
Your engine will fail when the pump has a massive failure.

Default New made in Germany pumps for $60 Ebay

You Know the German's make good stuff! The panzers were bullet proof. I bought my pump from some place in NY, lots of ads on Ebay. Delivered to SoCal in 5 days, installed about a month ago ... no leaks yet.
