Question The wave?

I don't see too many Land Rovers in my part of the U.S. and I'm a new owner so I turn to the boards instead...

-Do Rover owners ever wave to each other in passing? I know Jeep Wrangler fans do and one of my coworkers is really into the pre-1985 Land Cruiser scene--she says older Cruiser owners wave, but claims the newer Cruiser fans are usually on the phone and chugging a Latte'.

Thoughts?

my experience with waving is that the ones that have mods done will wave. not so many with stock or newer rovers wave back.

Good to know, I saw a late 80's RRC checking me out at a stoplight today, but he didn't even nod. Guess I need some mods

I am in the jeep scene as well and sadly l/r owners in texas dont want to wrinkle there well pressed shirt by turning there neck and look out there dark windows to acknowledge another l/r's existance! but, luckily jeep owners here are accepting to a rover and wave with no discrimination!

I stopped waving when I realized everyone else around here driving a rover is a soccer mom or a stiff-suited business boy. There are a few rare rovers with mods nearby and they wave. But I must admit that I need to see who is behind the wheel before I initiate a gesture of comraderie. Yes, it is snobbish. I don't mean to be, but I live in Boston and it is difficult to avoid.

I always wave.
Sometimes I get a wave from non-modded but it's because I've waved at them 80 times and they start catching on.
Modded or Series or Defender drivers always wave back and sometimes stop to chat.
I once got a big flirtacious toothy smile and wave from a hot soccer mom in NW OKC. I like those better.

I believe the traditional greeting is with one had at 12 oclock on the steering wheel and to raise the 4 fingers on this hand with out actually letting go of the wheel.

A variant to this is merely raising the index finger.
Also another one is a barely noticeable nod while raising both eyebrows; takes about a nano second but still works.

That's too smoooooooooooooooth! Depending on the Situation. I wave if I have enough time. Nod and wave if I get caught off-guard, and on the highway a quick flick of the headlights sometimes.

In a stare down I sometimes forget to wave. Like when I saw very striking light blue '03. I don't know the name of the color but It's rare. My wife and I looked at them as we drove pass each other, they looked at us checking out each other's Disco and we both almost forgot to wave, but in the end we did.
