Does anyone know anything about the SLS system?
I got mine running again, but I am not sure how the dryer works. I assumed it was a canister of moisture absorbing stuff (silicate?). I have not heard of a service interval on the dryer, so somehow it gets rid of its moisture. In my case, I dumped about a century's worth of water in all at once. Do I have to change the dryer? what do you guys recommend??

thanks

I'm not 100% sure if it's full of silica absorbent, but if it is you can dehydrate that stuff in an oven and it'll be ready to suck moisture again. Speaking about things that suck, how about you get some rear springs for that baby and ditch the SLS. If you had springs, this never would have happen... true?

A quick note/flashback on WD-40. About 10 years ago I saw an interview with some older guy country singer type (not that I give a fugg about country music) , they were at his ranch outside by his pond, and they started to talk about the hornets and wasps around them while they were conducting the interview, being worried and all. Then the country singer guy said "oh no probs, if they bite/sting you just spray some WD-40 it and it's stop the pain instantly". Obviously this is dumbass redneck medical advice (no offense rednecks!). So anyways a few years later I was working on my boat that was littered with savage wasps, and one of the mofo's bit me hard... it hurt like a SOB and I instantly thought of that old hound dog of a musician and his advice (had a can sitting 2 feet away from me). sprayed it on and INSTANTLY the pain was gone.

Holy shit, I sprayed WD-40 into my wound! Yeah but the pain was gone and everything was all better. When it happens to you, have that can-o-miracles ready.

BTW, because of my many years of actual experience with my countless electronic related hobbies I have to agree with Roverhound, 100%.

Wimp, cool pic! Sorry about the aftermath that you went through to get that wikid shot. I think I'm going to seal all my important electronics with silicone... Maybe we all should!

You'll get plenty of info from people who seem to be VERY into their circuit boards.
Not wishing to argue, just attempting to find the information you refer to. I searched and searched and could not find anything (outside forums) where they recommend it to stay on circuit boards. All recommended to wash it off. Would be interested in any references you have.

Why did you decide to wash it off rather than leave it on?

I washed it off because commercially available industrial cleaning machines use soap and water and scrubbers.

Tech forums.com had many discussion on the subject. some people just soaked the boards in wd and they said everything was fine. Some said use wd, then wash it off because of the chance for harming the plastic board.

I figured....why not spend an extra 2 seconds and wash the thing off.
Somewehre I also read about glazing the board in silicone spray once it is clean and dry. I did not do that, but may still.

On the SLS pump dryer.
Is that the canister that is on the intake tube?
is it easily removable and openable?

thanks
