Default What if you have an engine failure VIN?

I've gone through many pages of threads and read posts about the Disco's with the engine failure prone VIN #'s. However, I can't find if there really is a course of action to take regarding it. (I should restate: A "successful" course of action).

Has anyone gone through the motions so to speak? If so, what tips can you give?

I'm going through it right now - sort of...

My '03 is in the VIN range and I had the oil light come on during hot temp. idle @54k miles... The dealer said I needed a new oil pump and I did replace it, but the oil light is still on... Now, I am going to try rod and main bearings since this can be done without pulling the engine.... If that's not it, I am going to attach an oil pressure gauge and watch the pressure until I hit zero... then I'll address the problem...

Are you having issues???

If you're still under warrenty, take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it.
If you're out of warrenty, pray to the rover Gods for mercy

From my limited understanding of the problem, if you have high milage on an affected engine, you're probably in the clear. Seems the problem is most common at like 30,000

I don't have the problem (but I do have the affected VIN) and it's got about 65K miles. I want to take preventative measures if possible. Fix now rather than have an engine sieze in traffic, have an accident and God forbid, someone get injured or killed. Similar to the post regarding the drive shaft,....seems LR should take ownership of these two issues.

First, if you have one, and it is still under warranty, Rover won't just replace it, it has to fail for them to act.
Out of warranty and there is no help to be found.
If you are willing to replace parts, I believe it is a pump and timing cover, and I could be wrong.
