Default What tires should I get?

I am wanting to get some all terrain tires for my disco. Don't want anything to loud, but I want it to perform well. I was looking at the BFG All-Terrains. But I think the closest size they make to stock is a 255/70.

I have also been thinking about the General Grabber AT2's. Don't know alot about these tires but they seem to be rated really good. They do come in the stock 255/65 size.

I need some opinions on what to do ,and should I get a tire a little bigger than the stock size? Will I have any fitment issues? Will it look strange on a stock height disco. Any pics would be great! I would like to see how it looks.

The Generals are around $100/ tire vs. $150/tire for the BFG's.

Thanks!

Elijah

255/70 BFG AT fits fine on a stock height disco and actually look better then the stock size (255/65)... they are only an inch bigger. They are great all around and will last a long time... definitely worth the money if you're not planning on lifting/wheelin a lot of mud anytime soon.

I would get the BFG AT's first choice...other than that my parents have had great luck with their Nitto Terra grapplers!

I recommend Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos. I had a set on my Jeep Cherokee, and these tires are tough (drove 2 miles on a flat out of eagle rock in CO, the tire then just popped back up and drove until I rolled the XJ), they clear themselves very well (especially snow and sleet), are quiet on the highway, and handle better than the BFG A/Ts. Oh, and they don't wear out as quick as the BFGs (had mine for 45K with plenty of tread left for another 10K). Look at tirerack.com for reviews, they are no B/S. The only reason I don't have them on my D2 is that I found a good deal on a set of M/Ts.

Seriously, do your research. In my experience the BFGs were quick to wear, lacked soft terrain (sand and small rock) traction, did not clear themselves (snow or mud) very well...just not worth the $ in my humble opinion. I think the BFGs are a cult tire (like some bad movies), a lot people buy them to have "BFGs" and the image that goes with their race products (which are not the same as their consumer tires)...

thats my $0.02

I have a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers and they are awesome. They are really good for the mud. And have alot of traction in snow and ice. I drive my disco on the highway pretty often and when im doing 90 mph it seems that I have stockers on. Overall Great Tires!
