Default Wheel Stud Replacement

Hi everyone...I bought my 99 DII from a Ford Dealership and apparently they used a lug not from the spare tire and stripped the wheel nut...I can't get a proper lug nut on it...can the wheel nut be replaced? or do I need to buy a new hub assembly?

By the looks of the hub, the entire hub assembly must be replaced...

A couple of online sites have them and they are priced around the $350 to $450 range... Another site has used for about $200...

If 5this is something the dealer did, you need to make them pay for the total repair cost.
Just so you know, the lug nut for the spare carrier have a dimple on them that the regular wheel lug nuts don't have.

Dealer said no warranty sold "as is"...I won't be doing business with them anymore.

Does anyone know if this hub will replace the hub on my 99 DII? There are studs listed on this site as well...maybe I could replace the stud?

I'm not expert, but from examining the hub on my Disco. and looking at this one, I would have to say NO!...

I know it sucks, but I think you may have to go with either of the 2 I linked before... You many want to try to verify if you can get a new stud in yours, but since the hub appears to be comprised of 2 components (hub bearing and hub flange) that are pressed together, the clearance for mounting the stud looks to be too little...

But, like they say, start with the cheapest part first...

The link you have is for a Series III hub, a completely different animal.
Here is a link to the front hub on a DII.

It looks to me there is plenty of clearance to get the studs out.
Now finding replacements that maybe be another story.
Once you get one out a good auto parts maybe able to match it up for you?
Here's a better picture.
I bet you can get the stud out with only having to remove the wheel, caliper and rotor.
Than knock it out with a hammer.
Pull the new one in using a lug nut and some washers.

I pulled my hub this weekend and looking at it from top down, it's a hell of a lot closer than it appears... I'm not saying don't try, I'm saying it's not wide open like the hubs on my '72 Chevy pickup... You have to make sure you are on the little section that is notched out, and with it on the truck, it's not easy to see the notch...

Go for it!!!

Well worst case the hub assembly may have to come off.

If you look at the picture there is even a notch in the base to clear the stud on the right side.
