Guys, when I got my Disco and when my friends saw it for the first time, I was venting the quality of the interior and pointing the fact that the seats aren't made of cheap leather like the japs and/or american vehicles.
Well,I just noticed that the sides of the front and rear seats are made of vinyl, cause the extreme cold weather got them to crack. I figured that my weight would explain the cracking because of the sides being frozen, but the rear seat, in which only my 5 years old daughter sits in cracked also on the side. Just small cracks, like 1 to 3 inches long. So, this was a pretty rude awakening, and before my friends notice this, which I'd never hear the end of it ( They're already having so much fun with my case regarding the reliability of the Disco)..... I'd like to know if there's a product that fixes cracked vinyl ????? Steph. |

You can't really fix the cracks but you can stop any more from happening buy using 2 products, Lexol's saddle soap and their leather treatment afterwards. I have a 99 D2 with no cracks, and I am probably the weaviest Disco owner on the site.
Got to take care of the leather if you want it to last and whatever you do, don't use something like Armoral, all it will do is dry out and crack the leather. Mike |

I've been using Meguiar's Leather care ( don't know if I'm spelling that right)and used it on a weekly basis everywhere on the seats ever since I got the Disco 2 1/2 months ago, and there was no cracks cause I would have noticed it. Anyways, end result is that they now have cracks. So, no product to fix that mmmmm!!!!!

Thank you Mike, thank you, thank you, thank you. I've known that for years and try to get others away from that crap, Armoral, HA! I hear that Lexol stuff is the shiznit for leather.
Steph, the overwhleming majority of "leather" seats are just as you described. Look at a brochure the next time you're at a dealership. Somewhere in there, it will say "leather seating areas" Meaning that most likely, the only place that touches leather are your britches.
