This article was in our local paper today. I cannot understand why we love the Land Rover so much. Anybody have any idea?
"DETROIT – Buick tied with Lexus as the highest-ranking brand in a closely watched U.S. study of vehicle dependability, marking the first time in 12 years that Lexus has shared the top award, J.D. Power and Associates said today. Cadillac, Mercury and Honda rounded out the top five brands in the annual survey, which measures problems experienced by the original owners of three-year-old vehicles. Both Buick and Lexus had 145 problems per 100 vehicles. The worst-performing brand, Land Rover, had 398 problems. The industry average was 216 problems, down from 227 problems in last year's survey." |

First of all, I think we like it for its looks, rareness and personality. second of all, I think that Land Rover's reputation of unreliability is directly related to the dishonesty of the dealerships, who keep thinking they're smart by calling all kinds of invented or even created problems like head gaskets for manifold leaks and lord knows what else, and they don't realise that by being the way they are causes them to have the worst reputation and keeps people away from buying, or be repeated buyers .
But then again, they are the reason why Land Rovers are so exclusive. So GO STEALERSHIPS! ![]() |

Land Rovers have "soul" or "character", like no other brand out there in my opinion.

A lot may also be who owns land rovrs.. When I worked at the dealer most people complained about the DUMBEST problems.... Too much time and $$ I guess.. But LR's have character and even though they have problems, they always get you where you are going!

For those of you that don't frequent my website.
This question has been around as long as I've been breathing. "A Land Rover is at once a delightful runabout and a rolling torture chamber. It combines the best and worst features of a truck with the insouciance of an MG-TC. It is a car that every man feels compelled to buy at one time or another, but hardly anybody has a use for. It is best suited to off-the-road cross-country adventure. Conversely it is not specifically useful for shopping trips, or general family-household use, but that's what people do with it. This is one of several instances where perfectly reasonable people have seemed to take leave of their senses on first meeting the Land Rover. It is less of a car than a state of mind. Its owners are the most partisan group imaginable and its would-be owners are legion." -- Car and Driver, September 1964. |
