Default Winchs

I am getting a new winch and bumper from Mudy O this weekend. I am on the bubble, I was going to keep his 11000 tmax in the bumper, it has synthetic and a cool hook. Or should I keep my new warn 9000 in the new bumper. I really would like to see any rear mods for a winch back there. I will use one of them for the rear. Which One???? I cant wait to get the bumper on...
Here is the pic below of the set up.

You could always put the synthetic on the warn if you want to. The T-Max has more pulling power than the Warn.. but according to some people is of inferior quality. I haven't run them side by side so I have no basis for comparison. As for rear winch mounts, there are some reciever hitch mounted solutions.. but the kill your departure angle. Your best bet would be to get someone to custom fabricate a rear bumper w/ a hitch mount built in. Haven't seen anyone do that on a disco yet though.

hmm.....x2...I agree with ryan..

...the T-max has questionable reliability where as the warn is known for smoking motors....heh....but are commonly used and work. On the other hand the T-max will pull more....but if it breaks down its not pulling anything.

Your call....I would be hesitant to use sythetic line on the warn because it has its brake drum inside the cable drum. When you spool out and in the brake will hold and get very hot on long pulls, because of this, you have a good chance of melting your synthetic line.....this is why I recommend superwinch winches, specifically the X9 and EP9.0 because thier brake drums are outside the cable drum, so they can use sythetic rope with no heat issues. They practically negate the need to have a thermometric sensor, like the $1100 Warn 9500ti, because they wont heat up where the sythetic line is held.....though the 9500ti will also tell you when the motor is overheating.

I personally was looking at the EP12.5 and Husky 10. I have decided on the Husky 10 because of it being a worm gear driven winch...but that is for another thread.

I am working on that rear bumper idea, I just wish i could find someone to do it for me.
I may just get a custome fab rear mount system and keep it in the rear of the truck.
I do want a rear bumper with it inside...

The only people who question the TMax are people like Dan, Hank or whoever he claims to be today and he's never had one. He claimed they don't have gaskets but I just took one apart Saturday to move the clutch lever and I can assure you- there's gaskets...
Anyway- the Warn OR the TMax can run synthetic just fine. The drum heats when winching OUT, which means against the brake. I've never winched out more than 5 or 10 feet in my whole life so it's not a big concern. If I HAD to winch out a long distance under load, I'd just stop every minute or so and maybe pour some water on the drum. It's really not a big deal.
That TMax pulls like a friggin MULE. Pulled a Range Rover AND a skid loader at the same time without heating up much. Bent the crap out of my ARB bumper doing it. Only reason I'm letting it go is for the new TMax 12K with wireless.
Try it- if you don't like it, then swap.
