Default Windshield leaking

It has been raining cats and dogs here the last few weeks. And I noticed a drop of water on my very expensive rear view mirror. I told the Rover techs the other day when I drought it in for the brake lights. They could not find the leak and did not fix it. One Rover tech admitted that a few Discos do leak and can be fixed. So how bad does it have to get before they fix it?

Could it be your sunroof leaking instead?

As Disco mentioned, it could be the front sun roof drain also.
I just saw on the news about your flooding over there, this would be a good time to keep the truck out side and varify the location of the leak.
Stay dry,
Mike

open the sunroof,
If it leaks from the sunroof, take a airhose with a blow gun and blast the drains.

take a glass of water and gently pour it into the sunroof tray, if it leaks into the cab you have a problem. if it doesnt and makes it way all the way into the drain and down the tube out the bottom of the truck you are good.

Take your garden hose and spray the vehicle after you are done to verify that it is fixed. If you see anymore leaks then wipe down the areas and spray in the areas you suspect like the door seals or perhaps the windshield.

I do not think it is the sun roof drains are clogged, because the roof liner is only wet 3 to 4 inches on either side of the rear view mirror and just on the vary edge by the Windshield. And if it was the sun roof drains are plugged. The roof liner would be wet near the A frame and sun roof area. And I wash my truck allot and it is never wet in the truck when I am done. I think when you are getting 2 to 3 inches of rain in just minuets. Every thing will leak.

So Bird, if you believe it is the windshield, probably should let an auto glass shop reseal the windshield, which is a pretty common thing to do.
Stay dry,

have your shop pull the headliner (about a 45min job) and do a real water test.
or start with the sunroof drains, the hoses plug ,kink and the nipples crack at the sunroof tray, the water will migrate to the glass because the back side of the headliner is a fiber. and the water likes to flow through the motor housing.
the windshield can be checked with soapy water outside and an air hose inside. not as common as the roof tray unless you have had the glass replaced.

I have pulled headliners down for the harder leaks.

And yes I have seen cracked hoses at the sunroof drain.

Sometimes with alot of water you have to pull the headliner down and then pourl the water down to see the leak.

Tell them during high rains you get a leak. That way they will really test it.

Default Leaking Windshield

Before putting my 2003 Disco into the garage for the winter to avoid the salt I too had a very small leak in the windshield, to the right of the mirror.

Fortunitly, because it is still under warrenty I was able to have the dealer fix it. They did have a difficult time trying to identify where the leak was from. After going into the shop 3 seperate times they finally had it fixed. It ended up being the seal around the windshield. For some reason the glass company they used the first time did not get it fixed.

The dealer did mention it is not uncommon for the sunroof to leak as the others have mentioned. Since leaks almost always get worse I would try to get it resolved as quickly as possible.

Good Luck!
