Default Windshield replacement need some help

Long story short, I had my windshield replaced last year as it broke due to taking out the glass to see if we could find the leak. Dealer did it 2x and my mehanic did it once and that is when it broke. My Allstate rep reimbursed me for the window and there was no "claim #" to mention. Then in Dec, a rock hit my new window and gave it quite the punch. The glass guy came to my office and did his thingie to prevent it from getting worse. Still looks the same, oh yeah I still have the leak BUT listen to this. THis past Saturday I went to the store and just touched my mirror to adjust slightly (I am the only one who drives the truck) and the mirror fell off!!! It took glass with it!! How to attach? You can't. One need's a new claim, which I just took care of and instead of NAG glass I opted for the ROVER glass.

Will the mirror stay on?
I am not having it done by an in network Allstate shop, it is being done by the same reputable mechanic I used before. Maybe he can find the leak this time? Lets see, 4 years and no one can find the leak.

Of course if it was in the in-network glass group I would be covered if it happened again, not so with my mechanic. Does anyone think that it was the aftermarket glass that caused the mirror to crack off, the mirror is heavy as mirrors go imo.

How would you handle this?

You had your winshield replace once and that one you've had a crack filled. Was the crack filled where your mirror is, if so they usually drill down a couple layers and fill it with clear epoxy and maybe he drilled down to far and the glass was thin there. Did you have it replaced by an Allstate in-network shop the first time? Either way I would file a claim with your insurance company and get a new windshield. Not an aftermarket from a glass shop, but a dealer replacement.

No the damage from the rock was not near the mirror. My mechanic said it would be a hard thing to claim that the glass was defective. But even if someone wacked the mirror really hard (which btw did not happen) wouldn't detach at the glue site, not take glass with it? It wasn't an in-network Allstate glass person. The mechanic I use is really respectible he only works on high end cars.

Could it be the NAG glass due to a heavy mirror? It was the first warm day here in NY, a whopping 70 degrees. I just hope to heck that the Rover glass I am having installed will prevent anything else.

I'm still pretty new to owning a Rover, but I've seen alot of people having to replace their front windshield for one reason or another. I bought my 03 and going through the records that I got with it the front windshield has already been replaced. I now have a small crack in the glass and the repair place said they cannot fix it because of the heated lines in the windshield. Told me to keep it and see if the crack ever spreads. 30,000 miles and already 1, possibly two windshields. I've never replaced a windshield in any other car I have ever owned and have have what looked liked boulders hit my Jeep and nothing.

Good luck and hope this will be the last for ya!
