Smile Windshield Wipers

Hey... I was just wondering if there are any recommended brand or type of windshield wipers?? Where should I get them?

I am using the factory blades on front and back now, but in a pinch I have used the top of the line wipers from Walmart--maybe Bosch? They don't fit the arms, but if you pry open the clips on the mounts and slide out the rubber blade, it will slide into the old rover blade mount. Pinch the clips closed and put them back on the arms. It's a small bit of labor, but it's only about $12 and you don't have to wait for them to be shipped. Last time I did this, I had already ordered new factory wipers, but ended up using the Walmart rigs for a year and they worked fine. I just replaced them about a month ago.

DII right? What I have seen a lot of people do is put DI arms on so they can go to any auto store...not just special order! Talk to Keptin on this site!!

I like Bosch...but with the snow/ice ANCO winterblades are getting the work done!

The blade goes on the end of the arm. You'll understand better when you see the pictures.

X2! I have a set on my other D2. I also like the PIAA as well. You have to have the D1 wiper arms though to use the PIAA blades. Shop around on the Silblades...they can be had for a lot less on a few other sites!

I was going to order some SilBlades yesterday but after an ice storm I had to do something quicker as my passenger side blade was shreaded. I bought a 21" refill and fitted this. I started going the route discussed above but this was proving too difficult as the blade was freezing and wet. Anyway, if you pull the blade rubber on its own, it comes away from the metal retaining / strengthening strips inside the blade. When the blade has been completely peeled away, these strips naturally fall out. To put the new blade in was a case of twisting the rubber on the new blade to locate it in the clamps. Conclusions, opening and closing of clamps mentioned above is unnecessary. I did have to lop a good chunk of the blade off the end as it was too long, but a very satisfactory solution none the less.
