My dang wipers, the more I use them, get farther away from the windshield. When I'm driving in the snow it's terrible, might as well not even have them on. The wipers end up off the windshield.
I'm fairly sure this is caused by a weakened wiper spring. Does or has anyone changed these out? or have any part # I could bum from them to save me some time? I haven't had much luck finding part #'s for these on the net. Thanks |

Not to hi-jack, but.....
![]() My D2 blades are on their last legs so I picked up a a complete set of 3 D1 wiper arms of eBay. Question, do I get the D2 length or the length for the D1? ![]() Steve

Depends...if the wipers attachment points are at the same distance ( just compare them side to side) as the original D2 arms, then go with D2 lenght. But if they are different, then go with D1 lenght, otherwise the wipers might hit the windshield frame in their operation.

Exactly why I am asking. ![]() I could figure it out myself but this being a common swap I figured someone would know the correct size. ![]() I guess I will play around with some of the spare blades I have in the basement and figure out the correct length. ![]() Thanks, Steve

you use the d2 length
I did the conversion and used the dI length by mistake it was ok, but you don't cover enough windshield Once the DII length is on, it is awesome! I will try even longer next time. I beleive the driver's side could stand to be an extra inch longer (1/2" each end of the blade) ![]()

according to Expedition exchange, you're supposed to the the D1 length, which is 18 inches. Maybe somebody with more some text books handy can help out, but I seem to remember that a wiper arm is supposed to apply 1 lb of force per inch of wiper blade. Using a blade that's too long will decrease the effectiveness of said force.

Kdamericano:
I am speaking from experience, I had the DI length, then switched to the DII length. use the longer length with the ICON blades you won't be sorry. Plenty of pressure. awesome setup!

I was speaking from experience too, as I have the Silblade D1 blades that come with the kit from EE. The coverage is slightly less, but I can still see fine. The D1 arms are a little longer than the DII's, and the DII windshield is only about an 1" taller than the D1, so the perfect blade is probably somewhere in the middle.
Really, it doesn't matter much though. As long as they work. |
