yeah the Landy officially a Land Rover now!
just today I picked her up from the shop after the spark wire being done and the technician pointed one leak he discovered. it's the upper radiator hose and the leak came from that little rubber at the T-intersection (that's the best way I can describe it) he noticed some small amoung of residue from it but I didn't lose any coolant. anyway Im thinking about replacing it by myself since it's pretty easy to do. the only thing that he told me was If I want to do it myself then I'd need the vacuum to suck all the coolant out. uhhh...what's the vacuum look like anyway ? could someone help me with this one? Thanks

You don't need to suck out the coolant but what you do need to do is make sure you bleed all the ari out of the engine after you make your repair.
Also make sure you use the same coolant. Mike |

You might need to go back to the dealer and give them a stern talking to.
Land Rovers are factory-equipped with leaks. If yours were missing, the dealer owes you. You shouldn't have to resort to aftermarket leaks... go back and demand what every other LR owner expects.

beezel: it's not from the clamp as I see the residue goes down from that round little rubber. the tech guy said it's an updated version of hoses...the little rubber used to be right on the middle of hoses, the new model has the rubber on the intersection???
drg: I came back late today so I didn't have the change to call the dealer...I assume they'll say it's wear and tear parts but it's worth a try tomorrow. DiscoMike: isn't the vacuum suppose to clean all of the fluid? if I just open the tap from below, would it be enough? Thanks guys

pull the hose, top it off and fill it up thru the little screw. Nothing fancy.
The only other way you can do it is to pull the bottom bolt out of the water pump and it will drain that way. Thats how we do the coolant flush on a service. It is an 11mm bolt, It isnt easy but you can do it that way. but pull the hose and do it yourself with new clamps. |
