Default WTH! Since day 1! Body shake

Here we go. I've done a search. If anyone here has experienced this and fixed the problem please let me know.

Slight vibration in steering wheel between 35-40mph, this is not that bothersome I've learned to live with it.

On highway at 75-80mph I'll get a body shake (not the steering wheel). Something feels out of balance.... The shake gets worse when I let off the gas and I decelerate between 75-70.

What I've done.

New steering damper
Rebuilt front drive shaft with new u-joints (greaseable)
Balanced/rotated tires (twice)

I'm at a loss. Only thing I can think of is seeing if the damper is loose after the install 6k ago. Any ideas??

check the radius arm busings and trailing arm bushings. Also check the tranny mount and motor mounts.

Did you re-balence front drive shaft? I had a vibration like that and it was the drive shaft.

Mike, Brand new precision centering kit and 3 new neapco u-joints were installed. I had them Re-build the ds and assumed that would include a rebalance. I paid $118.00 labor... I ran around and found the centering kit and u-joints myself, the driveline shop had me gather the parts. Also, my roto-flex has no cracks, though I haven't checked to see if any washers or bolts or missing on the coupling. This is my 3rd post, and my 3rd potential fix. I'm at a loss but I know the more $$ and time I spend eventually (we'll) find the problem.

Edit: I'll check my paperwork from Fleetpride to see if they rebalanced the ds. These guys repair rigs and commercial truck drivelines, you'd think they would have rebalanced the damn thing....

Well I assumed that they balanced mine also, but that was big no. I took mine off and drove it on the highway and my shake was gone, so I knew it was the shaft, I think it was another 25 to have it balanced.

Default If not...

If they didn't balance it I bet that's my problem. I'm not going to be a happy camper if they didn't. They knew the reason I was having this done was for "vibs".

Edit: And My personal banker told me a $300 investment now is better than a $6,000 loss later... Can I can an AMEN!!

Update: I checked, they rebalanced the front ds when it was in the first time. I ran around town got the c. kit and uj's then took it back. They installed the new Uj's and ck but did not balance it again. Does this make a difference?

I would take it out and drive it and make sure, vibs gone your good to go, if not at least you know the DS is not the problem. IMO

Is your vibration harmonic? Meaning like mmmmm-mmmmm-mmmmm-mmmmm?

Does your CV jointed side of the DS snap to the side?

Check your yokes for any abnormal play.

I had taken my driveshafts to truck driveline shops and they flat out told me they cannot balance CV driveshafts because they don't have the correct machine to balance it.

Brooksa:

I would but I don't have a CDL. The receipt claims balanced. I've also seend Old Bronco's, Nissan trucks and other 4X4 types there. My guess is that they balanced the drive shaft.

I know my truck sat for 3 months in a guys driveway before he sold it. I'm running Bridgestone's right now 255-55-18. This was prob. iformation you guys could have used in my first post.

Dailydriven:

The driveline guy told me (the first visit) there was play, and he "took it out". This keeps getting better and better...
