Default 2000 Series 2 Flywheel Problem

Recently bought a 2000 model Disco. One afternoon suddenly got a vibration on low revs (1st gear & reverse), however when picking up speed and revs the vibrations go away.
The agent removed the gearbox and had to replace the flywheel. I was on vacation and the option of searching for cheaper alternative was not available.
This was the firts time that I've heard of a flywheel breaking! Is there anyone who can give me more info wrt the Disco flywheel and if I had a cheaper alternative than to replace the whole thing? Thanks for any info.

Flywheel is a two piece job and is known for breaking up , not only on Landrovers but lots of other makes of cars as well.

Thanks, how are the two pieces held together? I was not able to see any damage on the old flywheel, apart from the movement between the two pieces. What causes this?
