Default About to get Lr3 2005 next week - Your experience and advice

Hi all from Canada ,

I am an "unofficial Rover family member " since 09/2006 when I got my Freelandy V6 and have been browsing around this forum since than but did not sign up as official member til today and this is my first post. Guys I can honestly say you are all wonderful and this website is a wealth of valuable info and help one can find here.

Today I just went to see a local dealer as he left a message on my cell he has LR3 2005 SE V8 for me. The Landy has 62000 KM, (which might be close to 48000miles), black on black, dealer says no off road on this vehicle and mostly city drive, serviced in local LR dealer since "it was born".
He is asking $29900 (CAD) and I can buy 3 y. extended warranty for additional $3000. I am specifically interested in having extended warranty especially after being owner of Freelandy (still drive and love this car). So I left with him contacting me next week to prepare a warranty agreement and all details related to it, and than we will talk about the price.

My questions is:
Is the price purchase reasonable even in canadian terms and conditions? I noticed when browsing us dealers you can easily get the same vehicle for around $20000 plus you can purchase extended warranty as well. Any of your opinions and advices are more than appreciate.

Thanks all in advance

I just bought my LR3. My company owns dealerships, one of which is an Land Rover store. The service manager told me to avoid 2005 models (1st model year) at all costs. So I got a 2006, which he said was a much better vehicle.

Your price is WAY too high. I paid a fraction over USD 20,000 (CDN 25,000?) for a 2006 car with 24,000 mi/40,000 km. Get it through the dealer and have them CPO it and it will cost around the CDN 3,000 you're being quoted.

I think that a 2005 that has had all the software upgrades, recalls and other relevant TSBs is just as good as an '06. It's true that it was a first model year but LR has done a pretty good job of promptly fixing the issues. I had a few issues early on, but for the past year and a half my LR3 has been flawless and I use it for all kinds of duty.

I pruchased my LR3 less then a yr ago. It's an 05' with about the same mileage as the one you looking at has. Your dealer is asking why to much for that vehicle. I paid 22,000 and it looks as good as the first day it was made. Have him throw in the ext warranty.Good Luck!!!

I just bought the 2006 LR3 and I have always been one of those people that say "I don't care about all the bells and whistles as long as it can get me from point A to point B safely.".... wow has that changed. I love my car and it is like Christmas every day discovering new things. I have only had it 5 days. ;o)
