Default Anyone Install a Sherwood Molded Wood Trim Kit to the interior?

I just had CarMax ship a 06 LR3 SE to my local CarMax store. Plan on buying it this weekend. Only 13,000 miles!

Anyhow, I'm interested in adding a Wood Trim kit for the center stack, air vents and floor console. I have been told to stay away from the cheapo crap on Ebay but found a good looking kit from Sherwood Innovations. It is a 4 piece molded kit for under $200. The Factory LR kit is nearly $2 GRAND!!!

If anyone has any experience with this product, I would love to hear about it.
Thanks,
Apex LR3

Those molded kits are crap.

This is a great after-market kit I found and wouldn't go with anything else:

I think those are molded as well. From what I read, all the good ones are molded, you just don't want to buy the cheap ebay sheet type products.

I'm interested in the 8 piece kit you mentioned though and emailed the company to find out the cost.
Here is the link to what I was looking at:

Anything that must be laid over the dash, such as this, is junky in my opinion. To get a true integrated wood dash, you need to buy a system that replaces the dash components, such as the system in the link I sent you.

So my assumption is that those will be in the $1500-$2000 range????

Only if you get all the pieces. If you only get the main 4 pieces, similar to the factory package, it will be about $650 I believe or about 4 times the cost of the Sherwood version. It's not cheap, but I think is worth the cost for superior product and look.

Yeah, I called them and they quoted me $1199 for the 8 piece kit which includes all four electric door plates, the 2 front air vents, center stack, and floor console.

They actually charge you a core charge and you have to return your stock parts to them. Just not sure if I want to plop down $1200. I could just go with the 2 air vents, the center stack, and floor console like you mentioned. I'll probably buzz them back.

Did you go with this set? Quality good? What color/grain? Tough to install?
Thanks,
Eric

Have not installed a wood kit yet. I won't do the inexpensive glue-on type and don't have the funds for the Apsis kit. I'd rather have no kit at all as opposed to the Sherwood. My guess is that the parts are difficult to remove, so you can have a european auto shop do the work. You can also search this site for details on removing the parts yourself. Also, I really like the look of the wood on the shifter knob. Check that out. As for type of wood, it depends on your interior color. The Alpaca would prob match any of the woods. The ebony interior matches best with the dark Burl wood in my opinion, although, the lighter wood would pop more. You could also ask the Apsis guys about it. Good luck and post pics if you do it. In fact, here is a link to pics of the dark burl in the LR3: DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - Colour coding, car kit and DVD player
