Default Auto headlights in the rain

So I was driving my LR3 today in the rain and was wondering if the lights came on automatically when the wipers come on automatically. Turns out they do, but they also turn off if you have been at a red light for any extended period of time. When you start back up they come back on. Anyone else notice this? Any reason why it does this? Its kind of annoying because the dash lights keep coming on and off.

I have never noticed this. Are you sure you're not mistaking the auto-dimming of the NAV display for something else? How do you know the actual headlights came on and off?

Mine doesnt have the nav. I was talking about just the backlight of the dash. I was able to tell it was doing it by looking at the reflection of my car in the car in front of me.

Headlights on auto and wipers on auto. And it was pretty bright outside when it was raining, so it wasnt just sensing the light conditions and turning on and off. Ill watch again next time it rains and see if it does it.

Daytime rain storm, wipers and lights on auto, wipers going like mad and headlights were off.

I'd love it if the lights came on when the wipers were going, but I am not seeing it on my 07 LR3.

I traded my 06 charger for an 06 lr3. the charger;s lights did come on so i was just assuming the lr3's did also. I guess it was just coincidence that the lights were coming on and off due to light conditions.

I miss that and the lane change flasher (where the turn signal flashes three times when it is flicked in a particular direction) from my charger.

I'm pretty sure my LR3 does do that.

My LR3, the lights do not come on during the day if its raining/wipers going... has to be dark outside.

I think it was addition to the 07 and later models.
