Default Backup cameras?

Hey, my '05 LR3 SE w/ factory nav system would seem to be tailor-made for a backup camera, considering how poor rear visibility is...especially at night. I don't suppose that was a factory option? Anyone know if its possible to hook something up without going completely aftermarket on the nav system?

yes there are lots of kits out there for aftermarket backup cams. IF you don't want an aftermarket gps/headunit system, there are models that can use a rear view camera screen (you would need to replace the rear view mirror with the aftermarket one w/ screen) and there are also sun visor tv screens but you would lose a mirror. just search the net and you'll find those kits

Interesting...I never thought of something like that, thanks for the reply. I guess there's no way to hook something into the Nav display?

Don't know much about it but evidently there are three plugs in the back of the nav system to accept inputs for tv/dvd/reversing cam/companion cam. You will need to go into the diagnostics menu to activate it from what I understand, here's a thread on accessing the menu DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - Alternative Engine Temp Reading

The tan connector is for reversing cam.

I found a cheap backup camera on Ebay, but...I need to specify PAL or NTSC. Hmmm...any thoughts on this? Since its a US vehicle I would normally think NTSC but...it is made in the UK, and its not actually a supported feature...
