Default Bushing Questions

Hey Folks, I have determined that my front lower control arm bushing need replaced.

I'm going to do it myself, and post a how to back to the forum.

But I need a some help from ones who know.

1. Is any special tools needed? ( I have a hydraulic press)

2. Only need to remove lower balljoint nut, shock tower bolt, and the two control arm
bushing bolts.?

Any advice, or help would be great!

Thanks,
Mitchell

GTR has some info that might be helpful. Or if you PM me your email and I can send you some PDFs. I hear it's a pain to do and easier to replace the whole arm.

Hey guys, I picked up the bushings Saturday. Here is a shot of the bushings... I'm out of town this weekend, so I won't start on the repair until next week....more to come...

Here is a reply I got in another forum, it kinda confirms my suspicions...about really simple job....

After getting it out and paying real close attention to the upper arms, I relized that both upper bushings were failing on the passenger side as well. (The lower rears solved the clunk). The upper control arm is only $90 complete so I just ordered the complete arm for that one. Should be in in a week and I'll take it apart for that one next.

Update:

I finished the bushing repair Saturday night. It was a success. No more clunking! Give me a few days to assemble all the data and pics..... I would like a volunteer or volunteers to proof read my procedures before I post them....

Thanks,
Mitchell

PS. kinda looks like I'm almost alone in this thread, Although 201 people have looked at it...LOL

I am anxiously awaiting your follow up with details regarding your installation/replacement of bushings. I am experiencing sterring wheel vibration and clunks off road. My 2005 LR3 now has 87K miles. Many thanks in advance!!!

It thrills me to see people tackling these trucks and figuring out they aren't all the crazy rocket science people tend think. Good job GM! I'll pm you my e-mail for a copy of your write-up.
