Well, so far we've had Cooper's, General's, Toyo's and Interco's mentioned in this thread.

The one fact that consistantly stands out is ===>ANY BRAND<=== of tire is better than the OEM tires that come on these trucks!

The OEM tires should have been discontinued years ago. One wonders what sort of deal Ford/BMW/LR made with Goodyear. Anybody have news on the class action lawsuit?

The last I heard... nothing. The only one's who will profit from the suit, most likely, will be the lawyers.

Default Coopers

I've heard (and seen) that the Cooper Zeon's do quite well on an LR3. I personally went with the Nitto Terra Grappler's (285/60/18) but to each his own if they work for you...terrain and use (and price?) probably play a role as well.

Thanks,
I like the ride alot better with the Nitto's even though I went with a larger size (285/60/18)...In the cabin I can't tell a difference with road noise (no humming). The vehicle seems more stable in my opinion. I've put about 10k on them - so far so good.

The only thing i've noticed is a drop in fuel economy which was to be expected with the size (-2.5mpg).

Sorry to open an old thread but I'm a new owner and am getting conflicting advice.

I'm currently using the tires that came with my '06 LR3, Toyo Proxies (255/60/R18). The vehicle is mainly city driving but in the near future I'd like to be taking some trips off road (nothing too hard core). Furthermore, we do tend to get snow where I am and where I live it isn't always plowed right away (sometimes over the weekend).

Reading through the forum, the Cooper Zeon tires seem to be used alot and on the Cooper web site the LTZ seems to have an alright snow rating.

I asked our nearest Cooper retailer here and he said they didn't have anything small enough for my vehicle. My questions are:

-Can i run these tires on my LR3
-For those who have these tires on their LR3 already, are you noticing any rubbing? Or other problems?
-Any suggestions for other tires?
-Are the Toyo tires currently on my vehicle the average size or are they smaller than the stock goodyears. They look a bit small...

Thanks in advance!

Similar questions here: curious on the snow performance of these Zeons. Also, any issues in access mode with the larger diameter? I have low overhead clearance in my garage and can only pull the LR3 in when in access mode.

I can't personally speak to deep snow, but I have taken several trips to Big Bear in the snow and I know Spiker has done a few trips in deep snow without issues. The Zeons are fine in access mode, just don't do a lot of driving like that. For going into the garage, or in a commercial parking garage, they have been fine on my LR3. Just remember that if you are having issues with your present tires, you will have a greater issue with a larger tire, as the Coopers are 31.5" in diameter, which raised the truck nearly an inch off the ground.

Just wanted to update...... I drove those Interco SS M-16's REAL hard and no issues at all, they are awesome tires... I dont fly around corners in the rain or anything and in heavy rain they had no problem staying in a straight line, even at 75 mph, and in the mudd and on rocky trails they were simply amazing and they held up great too. I had them aired down to about 14 psi at Uwharrie and was on their most challenging trail and at all the hard parts I was able to rip into them and no tire blow outs at all!! It was amazing, and they took a tremendous beating, I also hit a mud pit one time(cause I'm not big into mud) and all I know is that my Range had never been so muddy in my life, and Iwasn't bombing a deep puddle, it was a legit hole and I couldn't see out of my passenger side window and windshield after then I cleaned it immediately cause mudd destroys paint...... never had the tire in snow but it was awesome in every other circumstance and in my mind is the perfect tire for a land rove rbecause it is insanely aggressive yet tamed for the road!

I was running 255 60 18 Nexen Roadians that came on my 06 LR3 when I bought it used in April. They were at the end of their life and I got Discount Tire to match the price I found treadepot.com ZEON LTZ for the Cooper Zeon LTZ 285 60 18 tires and got them ordered, blanced, mounted, and installed, with lifetime rotations and the whole deal for $606.

I did the price match via theri website with my area's regional manager in Ft. Wayne, IN but when I went in to have them installed the manager at the store in Mishawaka, IN was blown away by them. They had never had a set of these come through thier branch before and he wanted to know how I heard about them and how I knew they would fit and everything. They did not believe me when I pulled my LR3 in and said there was no way that they would fit. They put the first one on the left front, lowered it and made me come out, put it in access mode and do full steering lock both ways to make sure.

Anyways, if you are interested, I can give you the email of the guy who matched the price, because that is such a great deal! Also, I have had them on now for about 300 miles, 5 of which were offroad in a pretty nasty muddy field while checking my deer stands and can attest to what everyone else says about these tires.

They are very quiet on the road even at highway speeds, no noticeable change from the street tires.

They look SWEET!

Got into some nasty mud and never even felt threatened with getting stuck. Vehicle slowed and right when I would have normally got stuck with the old street tires or in my old Dodge Ram 4x4, the tires really dug in and I just kept chugging through. I was pretty amazed!

Anyways, I highly recommend them, and based on other's reviews, these tires should last a good long while. Check out NWoods' pic of his tires with 34,000 miles on them...
