Default Error need help!!

Hey guys I got in the LR3 today and cranked her up to go get gas. I filled up with 93 octane like I have since day 1 and got back in and cranked up and got a message saying reduced engine performance. I was just wondering if anyone knew what was going on? Do I need to take it in to the dealer? Thanks in advance.

Is performance actually reduced with the message? Temp gauge normal? Could just be some muck got stirred up from the bottom of your tank or some bad gas. Or a dirty MAF, bad throttle body are common culprits I've heard of.

Yeah no actual performance issues just the message.. I do still have warranty I just really didnt want to deal with taking it in for service. Do you think I can just unhook the battery and get rid of the message and then see if it comes back and if it does I will take it in?

My dealer told me if you get a fault and when you turn off an restart it resets he says don't worry about it; if it stays on after a reset then come on in. I live just over 3hrs from the nearest dealer in no traffic. so that is what I was told.

I didn't see your response. How did it turn out? OR Is it still a problem?

If you are a DIYer, clean the MAF and throttle body. I read somewhere that it was a required service item, but when I bought mine at under 19K, I could tell it had never been done. Use a CRC made for each at your local parts store.

MAF is located on the intake tube, two screws, don't touch anything but the outside edges, spray clean from all angles. The key parts to clean are the little wires inside.

Throttle body is a little harder. Remove engine cover, loosen intake hose clamp at intake, pull HARD to remove. Spray throttle body cleaner at butterfly, open butterfly and spray inside, pay attention to to the inside of the intake where the butterfly touches it when closed, there will be a build-up of gunk. Try to get both sides of the butteryfly and as deep inside as clean as you can.

It also helps to park with the nose downhill. The motor will turn over several times before it starts due to all the fluid that made it down the intake. You will notice a difference. I do mine with my OCI.
