Default Factory Amp question

Ok any help here is appreciated, I own an 05 LR3 and I have taken out the factory radio and speakers and replaced them with a pioneer avic F-90 BT, Audison amps, Mephis sub and Herts Milan speakers; sounds awesome, small problem that I need help with is the radio has serius sat radio-HD radio and of course AM FM. Sat radio works fine no reception problem but when I put it to FM or HD there is crap reception. I called the dealership and of course their answer was they replace the loom if anything on their computer says there is something wrong and had absolutely no answer on how to power the amp which would then power up the antenna. the company who installed my stereo attempted to tap into and power the amp but again crap reception. so I put in a generic antenna to see if this would work and it did sort of; I get reception but when hiding this antenna it loses power or reception. is there any savvie people who can tell me exactly how to power the antenna amp so I can get rid of that generic one any help on this will be great thanks

MY only guess is this,

In my opinion ive seen in the magazine called Crutchfield -
Crutchfield: LCD TV, Car Audio, Home Theater, Speakers, Plasma TV

they sell radios , boxes etc... , Now you say you have a Hd radio but the reception sucks ? . I would go to walmart or Auto Advance , and get one of those radios you can put on yourself ,and hook it up to your radio ? But thats just a guess ?

Not sure what your trying to tell me add another radio to the touch screen I already have??? the one I had installed has HD an HD tuner and a variety of other things in it Ipod ect ect. The issue is in the factory amp that supplies power to the antenna. What I dont want to do is add an external antenna. I want to figure how to power up the factory amp when my radio is turned on because it powers the factory antenna and will then allow the HD tuner to work and all local stations would then be static free as discovered when I added other generic antenna, however when trying to hide it it loses reception being a directional mast antenna. anyone who knows how to do this out there any suggestions is appreciated thanks JD

if i am getting this correctly your only problem is getting power to the antenna amp? if so....
should be fairly easy, get a relay, a simple 12 volt coil with dry contacts will be what you need. tap into your constant hot feeding your speaker amp run a lead to the normaly open side of the relay and another lead to from the other side of the contacts to the antenna amp. now tap into your remote lead and power the coil of the relay with it. so when you power your head unit the remote will heat and power the relay closed and you've got power to your antenna amp.

Ultraviolet, another stupid question and this may seem trivial but is the factory amp that is located under the passenger front seat the one that needs the power? because I can't seem to find another amp without tearing out the interior. or is there a specific location for it? I asked the dealership tech and he said there is some sort of relay in and amongst the loom in the rear compartment but wasn't much of a help to me. if it is the amp then I will try this relay your talking about, please forgive my ignorance but I am stereo challenged lol this is why I payed the so called "PRO's" to do it. and lastly will this effect the amp in any way as I payed alot of money to buy this Audison amp and dont want to fry it; please let me know and thanks for your help JD

a relay in the wiring loom wow.i know alot about electronics and stereo set ups but i'm sorry i really don't know the specifics of the lr3. will be a big pain but if all else fails you could trace the wiring leaving the factory antenna. there should be a connector that its plugged into leaving the window. the easist way would be to use a toner and probe, that way you wont have to tear everything out all you need is one end of the cableing you could borrow one or buy a cheapy from lowes in the telecom section (40$). clip the toner to the leads from the antenna and use the probe to find the wire where it ends up the probe will beep then you will know. tapping into the feed to your amp will have no ill effects on your amp, use a small termanal block before you get to the amp.

Connector c1354 from the head unit should have 18 pinouts all together, the number 12 pin out is power to the antenna amp - it should be connected to the blue wire on the back of the new radio.

These might be helpful
