Default Heavy Duty Package Rear Locking Differential

OK I am crazy looking for info on this subject. This is what I found. Dealers offer the Heavy Duty PAckage which comes with full size spare alloy wheel and tire and the rear locking differential. If you are serious about off roading, is a must.

Now, My dealer in Page Ranking does not know shit about it. I went to the parts manager and he gave me the parts number for the items. I saw the diagrams And I deduce that the stock differential has a slot and plate to install on top of it a selenoid or motor that activates the lock. The question that no one could not answered is if I buy the motor, the lock will operate. Does my LR3 comes equipped with the harnesses, software, etc to operate the lock? These are the numbers.

TVK500200 about $916.17 lock motor
TVK500290 differential assembly with lock
TVK500260 differential assembly w/out lock.

PLEASE HELP. I WANT THE REAR LOCK!!!

I have heard it's real difficult to add it at a later date as the software for it is not included. That was just what I read somewhere, so it's not first hand knowledge.

I have specifically asked several dealers if they could do it. A couple have had the exact LR3 I wanted but without the heavy duty package. They checked with their parts and service departments, and the answer was no, it cannot be added afterwards. So they were losing a sale because of it. I also asked shortly after getting my Sport - same answer.

From what I have read it's a software issue as well as a harness issue.

I would have the parts guy look up the wiring harness for the truck with the locker and without. See if the part numbers are the same that will eliminate one side of the problem then find out about a software update.

Oh and you can be serious about off-roading without a locking diff.

I'll second that, since I don't have it on my RRS, but I'd still rather have it than not.
