it was crazy i turned on my LR3, and there was no sound from the radio/ cd/satelite/ anything?!?!
i pressed the "VR"(voice recognition) and it said it was "Not available", my bluetooth said it was on but no sound i ran into my office called my rep and he said this is new to him, he said feel the radio if its hot, and i said no its not, then he explained a woman once had a radio that got hot, and would loose its sound, it might be the same problem. i only have 11,400 miles on it i turned my truck on a few minutes later and it worked like normal anyone else hear of this or have this problem???? ![]()

Mine did the same thing tonight. 2006 HSE with 20K on it. Nav screen stayed black too. Tried turning car on and off with no luck. Did briefly see a low battery or low power mode message. Drove to destination, ate dinner, came back out and everything worked like a charm! I've been searching all of the forums and it seems to be a fairly common problem with no known cause or solution. The computer seems to be shutting it down for some unknown reason. Try turning car off, setting alarm, give it a few minutes and then let everything boot up fully before messing with anything.

I've read that some have resolved issues that sounds similar to this by disconnecting the battery cables to reset the system. Worth a try maybe.

I bet the customer pays for the replacement of the malfunctioning deck right? Mine did this once already. I told my wife once if she ever had problems in this truck to turn it off and back on again removing the key in between. It seems to help many issues. She reminded me of it, I told her it might be the programming but then we went to the garage tried it and it was okay again. I was thinking of leaving it alone but if it acts up and has to be replaced, well I will measure the cost to an aftermarket unit and enjoy problem free sound at a lower price no doubt in the end.

no, landrover has a 4yr 50k mile warrantee that covers bumper to bumper. In fact most aftermarket companies cover radios. besides you will have a hard time getting an aftermarket radio in a sport or lr3. They use a really complicated setup with a fiberoptic hookup.

Fiberoptic? hmmm first I've heard that. I know of a few people that have swapped the head unit, not the easiest but can be done...thinking of upgrading to an entertainment unit myself.

My 2005 HSE has 52k miles, so off warranty now. But, I had same problem a couple of years ago, and the way it was solved was dealer cleaned the connections in fuse section, inside the battery compartment. Seems that moisture has a way of getting in there, causing sporadic issues. After that was done, no more problems. This has been written up in the past, although I don't think LR issued a service bulletin. There is a subsequent software update, although I believe that it really covered the tendency of the CD player to keep spinning the disks even though you are listening to FM (if you have rear controls.)

water leaks are caused by the sunroof drain getting stuffed. pull the cover off on the intake and underneath the rubber hose is a sponge and then the little sunroof drain, cut the end and blow out the crap and your home free. the driverside is more difficult but doesnt do that much damage except a water leak
and yes there is a bulletin. also the a pillar panels on the outside develop a leak and the bulletin tells you how to repair it.
