Default knocking noise coming from my engine

When ever I start up my 2005 LR3 It knocks until it warms up. The knock is constant it doesnt speed up when you rev the engine it just stays the same constant pace. Its a pretty noticable knock too. I Have no idea what this could be, please help.

any codes?

i must say my 2004 disco 2 does a similar thing, it has yet to worry me. however, my dad's 2006 LR3 makes no such noise and is fairly quite. I will check out our SE and see what it does in the early mornings for a comparison. good luck to you

My wife had a Honda Civic (New) 2003 that made a so called knocking noise when cold the dealer said it was normal and the car ran fine for 3 years.

my Mitsubishi Montero 95 and the LR 02 sound normal to me when cold.

some knock is expected in the cold. some gaskets and seals contract in the colder temperatures. you'll get more noise, once htey expand in their proper heat range, the sound goes away. but if its really noticeable you need to look into it
