When I hooked up to a rental trailer with LED's they flashed dimly even with the car off.
There may be a clue in this experience: I bought and installed a LED tail & brake light kit on my wife's 1928 Model A Ford Woodie street rod. Noticed that, after several hours the brake lights slowly came on by themselves, one LED at a time, and fairly dim. Called the vendor and they recommended a new brake light switch as it takes only a bit of current leakage to fire the LED's. I first tried cleaning the grease and dirt off the switch, as it is hard to remove, and the problem went away.
The LED kit came with a new turn signal flasher, too.
