Default Long term reliability

I am thinking of getting an 06 or 07 LR3 SE7 with 20-30k. It seems there items that need to be sorted out on LR3s, most having TSBs that can be handled by the dealer up front if they have not been taken care of by the original owner.

Does anyone have a feel for how these do from 50k-150k miles? I'm thinking that if I get a used one and have all of bulletins run, I might get a reliable for car for a while. Are there things that you just have to live with (as in is there any permanent fix for the passenger drain tubes...an LR3 definitely won't fit in my circa garage).

Also, does the standard warranty extend to the new owner in a private transaction?

Thanks,
Ben

You can take the easy way out and find a place that provides a decent extended warranty.

I bought my 06 LR3 at CarMax with al little under 50Kmile and I purchased a 5year bumper to bumper warranty that brings me to over 100K miles. I paid only about $ 2K for this warranty.

In contrast, Hendrick Pre-owned in Cary, NC wanted to charge me $ 5,000 for a 2 yr 24K mi warranty on an 05!!! His price on the car after haggling was not that great either.

I never used to buy these extended warranties, but on something as sophisticated as the LR3, to me this is worth the piece of mind. My wife can make one phone call if something happens when I am not in town and it is taken care of.

I don't know about you, but for me, everything in the car or house seems to break when I am out of town.

BTW This is the first time I purchased anything at CarMax, but I have to say that this was the best car buying experience I have ever had -- new or old. Their prices are competitive, perhaps not the lowest, but by no means the highest and there are a no BS company.

The CarMax warranty is better than most other plans.
