Need to hear all pros/cons/opinions on LR3's. The engine has gone in my mother's freelander. So it looks like an LR2/LR3 for her for Xmas. I can get her into a certified preowned LR3 for about two thirds the price of a dealer demo LR2, and still have the extended warranty. Bigger car, more room, better aftermarket support, etc. Probably look for a V6 model to keep fuel/insurance/repair costs down.
Thanks in advance,

Unless your mom does some offroading I'd stick with the LR2; I'm sure you can find one cheaper than an LR3. Or get 'er a BMW X3, those are nice.
But they are disgusting! My friends mom has one and not only has it been in the shop more than on the road, the interior feels very cheap and fuck its ugly.
If you can get a LR3 for 2/3 the price of a demo LR2, go for it!

Okay but simple logic tells me that if you can get a CPO LR3 for less than a demo LR2 then you can probably get a CPO LR2 for even less than that.
I love my LR3, but if I were just going to drive around on the road and an occasional trip to the ski lodge, I'd probably pick something else. It's a great rig, but the thing that makes it great is its offroad prowess. There are SUVs that surpass it in reliability, on-road handling, fuel economy, cabin trim, etc.

My opinion....
True. But if you buy an LR2, your buying a halfassed car (IMO)

I think the 2005's are okay, if they have had all the repairs. Since you're buying used I guess you can't know for sure. ...so yeah if you can get a good deal on a 2007 that would indeed be better.
Just got our 05 LR3 last week...we love it. Drives much better than the Discos and RR. Still has that solid truck feel to it. It is bigger than the discos and RRs. Gas mileage will probably be about the same with the V6, I dont think that will benefit much. These things are heavy, so get the V8. I dont think I would want the v6.
