Wow, very nice......I just bought the Yakima Bars to support my canoe basically because I didn't like the expidition rack that Land Rover makes. The only problem about the bars is that they make a lot of noise. This rack is one of the nicest I've seen........Do you think it could support a 16' canoe. Does Urban Offroad have a website?

Yup, that's why I keep mine off...sounds like a friggen wind tunnel. I hear the LR rails & rack are pretty noisy too, not sure about the others...

OMG!!! That is a huge hunk of cash to spend on a rack! I bet you could buy a Brownchurch and have enough cash left over for a Britney Spears orgy.

On the tire question, I believe those are Nitto Terra Grapplers on the silver one. The tonga green one I posted has Cooper Zeon LTZ's. Both are 285/60/18's. I've had both on my two rovers, and give the slight edge to the Coopers, both on and off road.

As for the Urban Offroad rack, the front section is mostly for looks, to match the body lines. It has no floor past the spot where the rails end, to give room for the sunroof to open. So the only real reason to have that front section is for roof lights - which are mostly for looks anyway, as driving lights are more effective when mounted on the front bumper anyway. Urban Offroad makes the same rack without the front piece for a couple hundred less, if all you want is the usefull portion of the rack. That's a great deal and comparable to the Brownchurch in price.

Hope that helps.

For a hunk of crap rack. The 3/4 length version might be ok, but there's not a single support that I can see for the lower front section. Why on earth would anyone in their right mind design a roof rack with a 2 or 3 foot cantilever?
I really wonder about people sometimes.

In any case, I thought things for sale were supposed to be advertised in the classified sections.

On the wind noise issue, I finally got the Brownchurch rack. I love how closely it fits, but with no wind deflector, is was very loud, much as I think the Urban Offroad one would be. I recently won an REI gift card in a contest, so I just went down and bought a Thule wind deflector (44") and stuck it on the front. It fits great, looks clean, and most importantly the noise is completely gone. It's like it's not even on there, even at 75 MPH.

Default Yakima bars w/o noise

For what it's worth, I have Yakima bars on my DII that I can't hear unless I open the sunroof. However, I did purchase the (yakima) wind deflector as well, and no doubt that has made all the difference.
