Default New Owner... Help please

Hi everyone-

I just bought an 05 LR3 HSE yesterday and I had an engine code pop up already.

The code came up as "Coolant Thermostat - Coolant Temp Below Thermostat Temperature". I had a code similar to this one on a pontiac engine and I changed the upper and lower intake gas gaskets and everything was happy again. Turns out there was low coolant and air bubbles were tripping the code.

Has anyone run into this code before?

Thanks,
Christian

I have had a coolant error message, it was some time ago and I don't remember exactly what the message was. It was a faulty thermostat that the dealer replaced and was not a big deal. Congrat's on the truck, I got mine a couple years ago and can't see driving anything else. They have their quirks but get me where I want to go and back home! Keep us updated. Craig

+1 it's the thermostat. If you take the t-stat out, you will see that the seal has rolled off the valve causing the engine warm up cycle to be out of spec.

Cool. I guess it failed in the open position and the cold coolant from the radiator is getting to the sensor through the thermostat before the engine is up to temperature?

I'll get one ordered. Thanks everyone! I'm enjoying the LR3 even with the code popping up.
