Question Newbie to a 2000 disco II

Hello!

I just bought a 2000 Disco II on Thursday and am new to it all. I love my truck and wanted to know if there is a restrictor I can place on my fuel line so I dont have to use all 8 cylinders? If this sounds stupid I basically just want to know if there is a way I can limit the fuel I use or am I just going to have to deal with the guzzling? Should I get a warranty too? All advice appreciated!!!!

First of all, congrats. YES YES YES buy a warranty. The disco is one of the (if not the) most capable off road vehicle, but some seem to be plauged with little problems, rattles, and just issues. BUY THE WARRANTY. Its one of those cars (like a cadillac, which I have also) that you just wouldn' want without a warranty. (Now disco mike gets edgy when you bring up problems with the discos, but they do have a few probelms) Also, get to know your local gas attendant , cause you're gonna be spending some time there, its just a price to pay for an amazing vehicle. You can do small stuff, like put the a/c on econ mode, some people say buy regular gas and use those boosters (DONT DO THAT), there are filters and stuff but i would advise aagainst it, they are made for racing engines which are replaced often. Enjoy your new vehicle, and ask for some gas station gift cards for your birthday! Take care, and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me, get edgey ,no. Hey they all have a problem once in awhile.
As for running with less fuel. forget it, you'll have to push it over speed bumps and you will do a lean burn on your valves and that is expensive. Also, alway run high octane, anything else will carbon up your valves, which is something Rovers are know for.
Depending on your mileage, you might be able to get an extended warranty from the dealer, if not check around on the web, there are a cople of companies out there still covering them.

do not put any restricter plates or anything of that nature, the engine is designed to work the way they work without starving it of gas.
Some ppl do put regular gas in but i would not recommend it. for what you're saving, might cost you more in the long run.
take care

John Robison speaks highly of Easy Care, WWW.easycare.com
I believe he also sells them. Easy Care is owned by Ford.
There's a guy who gets rave reviews in Paramus, Con't think of his name, but somone will chime in. Where's Adam? He might know.

Talking Easy Care

I emailed Easy Care so Im waiting for a response. Anyone else have any other reccomendations for "extended warranty" companies? I have logged on to roverparts.com and purchased some mats for the car, is this a good site (cheaper) than most? I looked at a few and this one seemed pretty descent (prices wise). Again, thanks for all your advice I do appreciate it greatly
