Default off road driving lights

I am looking to add a brush guard and lights to my lr3. does anyone know if the land rover brush guard and mounting brackets are compatible with lights other than the land rover driving lights. Or do I have to get the steel tubular brush guard to mount other lights. Also can lights be mounted right to the bumper of the lr3

LR has driving lamp mounting brackets (#VUU500110) for the stock bumper. With a little modification any lamps will work

the upside with the lR lights is that they work directly off the high beams. if you dont use them then you will have issues with the wiring if you attempt to tap into them. plus you have to program the bcu so that it knows its got the lights on it as well.

Bullocks, tapping into the high beams was not a big deal to do, no BCU programming needed either.

oh my mistake, those were for the same model but a different set of lights, basically the LR ones needed to be programmed to the vehicle so they will run off the high beams and work when you turn the high beams on and when the switch was pressed the high beams went off and the additional lites came on.

That's not 100% correct.

Yes, if you use the LR wiring and wire the lights like they are from the factory, then yes, the ecu needs to be "turned on" with the software/pc.

But you do not have to wire it this way, and why would you? The LR wiring harness is stupid $$$$. You can make your own harness, with relays, for under $20.00.

If you want the nice LR fog switch, that may run you another $30 or $40.00.... The switch is nice, though, and makes a very clean install.

LR went a little overboard with the ECU's on the new Rovers, IMO. The last thing I want is an ECU telling my fog lights when, and when not to, come on. You can do that with a $3.00 Hella relay.

.....and that's another thing, airn't the "Land Rover lights" actually Warn lights? Why buy through LR?
