Default Oil Change and Reset Service Indicator Blackbox Solutions Inc.

Sooo after alot of searching on all the LR forums and finding little info on how to reset the svc countdown on my LR3. I found the Blackbox Solutions Inc. website and all there nice tools for diagnostics etc.

So I bought there Can Mate tool to reset the svc indicator and the thing worked in two seconds.....amazing!

No local auto parts store has a K&N oil filter for the LR3 so I ordered four of them from pepboys, as they were the cheapest at $10.50 or so and they arived four days later. Perfect.

The harderst part of the whole oil change was removing and re-installing the skid plates.....and that wasn't all that bad.

Checked over all fluids and filters and she is good to go till the next oil change.

Next week Pirelli Scorpion ATR's will be fitted and I will be ready for some off road fun.

Just wanted to share my experience of my first oil change and how well the Blackbox Solutions tool works.

Brett,
I'll second that, if you are impressed with the Can Mate (not sure exactly what that is) wait until you get tempted by their Faultmate MSV 2. Takes a bit of getting used to and it's going through a bit of an evolution phase at the moment but even what that can do now is awsome. In addition to that the web site is really helpful with solutions to any problms you may have. Glad to see you are getting some use out of it.

If I may chime in, I recently read this post while in search of a way to reset my service reminder on my 2006 Land Rover LR3. I, like most people on this list, perform most of my basic maintenance and other light work on my vehicles, and the Rover is no exception (even though I've got an old '71 Series IIA that is a little more fun to work on).

However, it always frustrated me that there was no "manual" way to reset the service light indicator. So after reading the above post by brettmess24, I hopped on blackbox-solutions.com and ordered up one of the Can-Mate SRT's (total cost with shipping and the UK-to-US price conversion was around $150).

I ordered it Sunday, and received it in my hand today. Honestly this thing couldn't be easier to use...you turn the dial to select the reminder time option, plug it in, and it's done. No more annoying reminder display everytime I start the vehicle. I always like to give real-time feedback since these forums are so valuable to providing information I frequently need, so if anyone is looking for a testimonial this should do it. Only wish I had the $$$ for their Faultmate that someone mentioned above, but between my OBDII scanner and the Can-Mate that should be able to handle the basics.
