I and thisclose to buying an LR3 for many reasons, one of which is the safety, power, and the Land Rover name but that is not the nature of this discussion. One nagging problem that is keeping me from buying an LR3 immediately is the moon/sunroofs (I have heard them being used interchangeably). There is no "felt" cover that goes over the sunroof, or in other words it's just a screen that doesn't block out all the light. Does it affect how hot the car gets? On long road trips when the sun is beating down do you notice it, is it annoying? I am prone to get migraine headaches after being in indirect sunlight if it is shining directly on me so this is of great concern. Is there an accessory that I could have installed? Bascially, any information pertaining to the LR3's sunroof(s) would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time!

You should go look at one up close and personal and/or test drive one during the middle of the day. You won't miss the totall covered shade that othe sun/moon roofs have. The shade cuts down a great deal of sunlight from getting into the Cabin. With the Shades pulled its very similar to a felt covered shade just not as dark, but its not annoying either IMHO. The LR3 is an all around very sweet vehicle. Happy Shopping!

I was concerned about that also, as I wear perscription sunglasses and glare from sunroofs is really a bad problem for me. Also, I live in SoCal and frequent the desert, so heat gain was a concern.
I have not had a problem with either. The screens work well. In fact, I have had the opportunity to sleep in the back a few times, and the screens are great to keep the bugs out and the sunroof open. I only wish the middle sunroof were operable! |
