Hi,
I got my '05 LR3 SE used, and it came with just the one key/remote thing...not sure if they come that way new, or if they have two like every other car I've owned...anyway, I've apparently lost it. I know for a fact its inside my house somewhere, but I can't find it, and I really should get a second anyway. I was disappointed to learn that the dealer was going to charge me about $350 for the hardware, an additional $115 to program the key (or the car, not sure which...either way a completely nonsensical charge) and on top of that, it has to come from the factory which they said could take "several weeks." Huh?! Are there any alternatives to this? I see "uncut" remote/keys on Ebay for fairly cheap, but they don't explain how to make it work for my vehicle and my dealer said there's "no way" to do it. jds |

Oi start tearing your house apart. It should have come with a spare. Don't see how you'd get an ebay key cut w/o an original plus your dealer would need to program the key to your car anyways. Several weeks is a long time to wait

350 is a bit steep for the key... pm me and I can get if for you for way less than that... I cant help with the labor/programing as I m in MD, but I can deff get the key for you. I cant get you the key for less more than half what you were quoted. lemme know

I've moved from reasonable places to leave a key on to completely insane places to leave a key, but no luck so far. I'm starting to suspect my two-year-old may have stashed it somewhere.

Yikes! My kids think mine is cool like a toy sometimes too. I wonder, does the dealer cut the key or the factory before they send it? The latter would work since it just takes the VIN to do it. I wonder because these keys are laser cut I'm pretty sure. Home depot cuts keys, but good luck trying to find a place to cut LR3 keys. I hope I don't lose one of the 2 mine came with. GL, that sux
