So when the time comes, I'll be ordering some BFG 255/85 MTs. Now, I don't to any rock crawling, use my truck as a daily driver, and wheel through water/mud mostly...
Will stock gearing work with these tires? Atleast for a while? 96 D1 with 130k

Stock gearing will work, but it'll get sluggish.. mostly on hills and what not. Gearing is expensive also...
Also, with that size tire on a DI, you're going to need to trim.

No doubt about the trimming part...even with 235 you need to trim...damn D1s..lol
Red Rhino has a pretty good deal on their 4.1 Gears, but then again I havent done much research so im sure there's someone out there with better prices. But I'm getting my tires for a little more than what the gears cost through work. ![]() I guess my main concern is that the metal in the axles and the stock gearing are able to handle the extra stress.
