Default 35s or not 35s

I'm going to be ordering some black steelies from OKOffroad in a week or so and I was originally going to get 16s, but a friend of mine called and said he had a set of gently used 35x12.50R15 ProComp X Terrains that he would let go cheap. I know that I'll have to do a little cutting to get the 35s to clear. What do you guys think? Get 15" wheels and the 35s or get 16" wheels and stick to my 265/75 MTRs? By the way, I have 2" springs and 2" body lift.

35 = need HD axles and maybe gear
(however I think thye look AWESOME on a RRC )

265/75R16 = 32" tires

255/85R16 = 33.6 tires no need to cut

I am on 33s right now. I eventually want to go to 35s and stay there.

Are you going to need HD axles ect? Do you already have them? Is your RRC a DD?

If you really want to go for it!

I don't have HD axles right now. I don't wheel as much as I'd like to, so I'd probably be okay for now. Yes it is my DD.

What gears are you running now, and what are the specs on your axles? I am running 34s on a 7.25" axle up front and a 8" axle in the rear (a little better than a Dana 30, and about a Dana 44) with no problems. And there are guys that run 35"s on the same axles also, you just keep in mind to take it easy on the skinny pedal. I am sure someone on here knows the LR specs.

Everything is stock. Stock 24 spline axles, stock gears, etc. I know it's going to be slow as death.

I couldn't find the ring gear size, but lets assume you're around the Dana 44 range as far as axles go. But I found the gear info:

1st Gear: 2.48 (x) T-Case Low: 3.244 (x) Diffs:3.54 = Crawl Ratio of 28.479

I don't know what kind of wheeling you do, but if you do any trail riding your crawl ratio can do nothing bet help you (especially if you encounter rocks etc). So if you re-gear to help with the bigger tires you will also improve your crawl ratio. Its not cheap to do, but its a win/win situation. Currently with 34s I am facing the same situation, considering I have:

1st Gear: 3.967 (x) T-Case: 1.944 (x) Diffs: 4.625 = Crawl Ratio of 35.67:1

You can live with it and get by like I said earlier. But if you can re-gearing has multiple benefits.

Forget about turning around in any kind of hurry or space for that matter...my 285/75 suck in the turning dept...35/12.5's are an 1" wider at least. If you do it, get wheels with different offset to push the tires out.
