My rig is well beyone EAS... never had it in fact.... but my local Discount tire was on the ball. 2 floor jacks, 4 axle stands away they went! he said it was a rule (all stores or just his) all Land Rovers get treated this way. EAS or not.

He said he likes to do one side at a time by using a floor jack on the sliders. I challenged him to get any tires off the ground via the slider with his floor jack.. not gunna happen!

they obviously used an impact wrench- the headlamps always fall out from the vibration.

Default Been there...

Been there, done that, got the Tshirt! As a owner of a wheel/tire company I can see both sides. But, believe it or not, if I didnt own a shop I would take my LRovers to dealer most of the time for peace of mind. Heck I do most of the time now. Its amazing how many fly by night shops/national companies there are who consistantly screw up our Rovers... Some things are just worth paying for!
Now for the shameless plug We proudly own www.emeraldcoastcustomwheels.com ... Sorry we really dont do a lot of 4x4 wheels, etc. but if any of you find your self needing 20" or 22" chrome wheels or Custom Lettering/Emblems (www.icedoutemz.com) we will hook you up if you mention this forum! Thanks

At the risk of offending the worker bees, from what I've seen you aren't going to be able to hire a very skilled worker who really takes pride in his work for as little as the job pays. Kinda like the Jiffy Lube mentality- slap it on, move it out. The high end shops are of course better about that and you pay for it.
Funny thing is that when i was at a dealer waiting for my free terrible service, an attractive woman and I started chatting about stuff. She said the dealer told her that she HAD to have her tyre replaced there or it voided the warranty on the whole car (Jag XK8). She had been there for three hours waiting for her $760 tyre (ripoff!). The reason it took so long- the dealer had to send the tyre and the wheel down the street to the Goodyear shop to have it mounted and balanced.

unless it was a specially mounted run flat then its the dealers stupidity for not having the right equipment.

trust me my old lincoln dealership was cheap sobs who didnt even have a hunter road force balancer or had the ability to work on tires bigger then nineteen and even then couldn't dismount them right casuse of the old equiipment.

and the alignment machine was barely set up for eighteen inch rims. any decent equipment was owned by individual techs cause the manager didn't want to pay for anything.

one computer for all the techs and we had ten techs.

they are really cheap. I was glad to leave. My shop has all the bells and whistles now.

Ya know, I don't like anyone working on my car, even the dealership. When someone has to work on it, I am there watching them! I have all my tires done at Discount Tire. They are inexpensive, and do a good job! They have NEVER put it on a lift, even though I don't have BAGS. They use two jacks in the back, and two jacks in the front! They lift it from parts of the axle. So if you want inexpensive tires with good service, I would go with Discount Tire. If they DO happen to mess up, they WILL pay up! I have talked with people that have had damages, and they accepted, and paid!

BTW, you should have told them!!
I tell Discount Tire, do not use an impact wrench! They BORROW, my lug wrench!! They do it with a smile! You can't expect EVERY person working in a shop to know about a Rovers's delicate EAS system! Hell, most of the time they have never even seen a rover, much less worked on one!!

impact wrenches dont do squat, and neither does a big ass soft face hammer from snap on.
trust me it costs ninety bucks from the dealer.
anyway you cant get some tires off without it cause they seize on their.

and the lug nuts do as well. but cleaning everything and torquing down guarantees nothing its just how long the vehicle sits without taking the rims off.

and no I dont recommend antiseize on the threads. the hubs and the rims yes,
but no the threads.

I started reading the thread but had my opinion after reading the first post.

A) YOU should have told them about the EAS if its a concern.
B) The air bags must have been in terrible condition. I have done this to my P38 when it had the EAS and they just popped right back in.
C) This is a great oportunity to convert to coils!

HUH???? Are you saying that putting the lug nuts on by impact wrenches doesn't harm anything?? If so....I beg to differ!!!! I have seen first hand the damage done by putting the lugs on by impact. How about the wheel falling off from the lugs being over torqued!? How about the multiple cross threadings I have had to have them fix because the dipshits used the impact wrench! How about being in the middle of nowhere, with a flat tire, and you cant get the lugs off, because they were over tightened!? Trust me... I am only 30 and have personaly experienced ALL of these things, since I have had them NOT use a impact wrench ZERO (0) problems!!!!!!!!
