are they comming out with new sizes before christmas? i couldnt find any news about it... i 'thought' i read somewhere that in sept. they will be.
i am running 285/60/r18 nitto grapps right now and i guess my only choices with the KM2 tire sizes out at the moment are 245/70/r17 (smaller and narrower than i would like) and 305/60/r18 and maybe.. if it will fit, the 305/65/r17 i have OME 779 front and 762 rear springs. i am getting the TJM bumper by the end of summer... i have finally saved enough cash for all these "necessities " lol.. ![]() also. would the 305/60/r18 and 305/65/r17 give me any problems for being near 33in.. i read that if you go over 32in you might run into problems. not sure.. , since i live down in south florida the type of conditions ill be in will be wet and muddy. no rocks or anything. so wide and big should be the way to go right? i saw the whole skinny tire vs. wide tire thread.. and it seems to be preference.. thanks

Pete; Here's your major issues as I see them:
1) A 305 tire will be too wide for your DII, with your current suspension set-up. a) You will have issues stuffing the tires at full articulation, on the fender flare lip, where it connects to the inner fender. b) Your turning radius will suck, and the tire will be too wide for full lock to lock, even if you Adjust your steering stops. c) This could also put undue stress on your power steering box, leading to premature failure. 2) That tire is tall enough you will start to have wear and tear issues further down the driveline. I don't know the specifics of it, or why, but 33" seems to be the magic breaking point for failure on DII's. Not just over here, but on the UK and European websites as well. You will lead yourself to HD rear axles, HD CV's, HD driveshafts, Lockers, and so on... 3) Remember that you want to always have a full size spare with AWD, so you don't mess up your drivetrain. Will you have room on your door for a 305? Will you be willing to mount on your roofrack. Etc...

The DII is running 265/75/16 (32") Yokohama Geolandar M/T's. The 109 is going on 235/85/16 (32") Yokohama Geolandar A/T's. And the IIa Hybrid is going on 35x10.50x16 Interco Boggers. In the 18" size, I've been looking at the offerings from Mickey Thompson for the Tundra. It has 18x8's. They make a 285 size that works out to 33x12.50x18, for that fitment. But even on the 07' Tundra, I had to put a 3" lift on the front to clear bigger than stock, which is a 31".

Skinny is better for mud, see the Camel Trophy events.
Unless you are running 1000hp on a mud dragster and just need to throw a lot of mud backwards to go forwards. I'm not a mudder so I run a 11.2" wide soon to be 12.5" wide tire. Looks like you're getting close to needing HD axles... just do it!

As far as the KM2's.
They seem to be good, a few friends with the 285/75 size love them, but they are in the 'just spent the cash' honeymoon phase. We'll see what the summer brings. I still love the MT/R's on my daily driver/wheeler

also.. is it expensive to upgrade to hd axles, hd cv, and hd driveshaft? just wondering for the future.. i also see a 285/70/r17 km2 (33in : /) .. which is a bit taller than the 305's and my current 285 tire but it isnt 12in width. just 11.22(same that i have now) but since its a 33... idk.. ill look into another tire. daniel, i would love to throw a beastly tire on top of my roofrack and yeah 305 is pretty wide.. when i come back home we should go riding sometime, you can teach me some things! so you think the 245/70/r17 would be best? about 9.64-9.8" wide.. and 30.8" tall.. doesnt sound too bad!
