I think you are already at it unless you have a shed full of CVs.

Also what sort of mods have you done to fit that size tyre or do they still rub under articulation? As for how big, well it's down to how much money and hassle/R&D you are prepared to spend. At Billing this year there was a Disocvery on some huge tyres, must have been 24" wide at least and way bigger than 35" tall. Looked like a mini monster truck in appearance and stance. However I'm pretty sure it had bugger all axle articulation so off roading would be limited some what. Plus it looked like it had a lot of work done to it including a massive body lift, you could see the exposed chassis rails. From a distance it looked way cool but I was less impressed up close. I'm pretty sure some of the US suppliers do a 5" lift for the Discovery, combine this with cutting the wheel arches out and adding aftermarket flares I see no reason why you couldn't get 37's or something on there. Breakage may well become more an issue if you off road it though. How big are you thinking off?

Not sure about the ABS but I guess if the supporting hardware isn't part of the new axle setup then you'll have to ditch the ABS. Probably no realy bad thing unless you use the DII's off raod traction control systems? Or have you added a manual diff lock instead?

i dont get rubbing now but ive go to fit some wheel arches , i could fit 38s on now with no further mods but im more interested in going bigger like a 42 irok but im interested in talking to people who might have done it allready and now a bit more of what it involves. oh and for those who say about axle articulation and you cant use it off road you better look at the april lro when its out! |

i think that new range rover wheels are 9.5 by 20 , the interco big tires need a 10 by 20 but this should be as close as i need and there is a 39 irok this setup is looking favorite at the moment , i would like bigger but you need somthing like 20 by 14 rims . i dont now where to get these from , does anybody now ?

If you want to fit bigger tyres on a D2, you might want to check this out.

If you're going to wheel it, you won't gain much with tires larger than 35" relative to the reality of drivetrain too weak to handle that big a tire thru obstacles. The DII trail CV-swap isn't very difficult other than removal of the hub-nut, but doing it constantly is going to get old. My suggestion: keep your 35's, spend the tire-upgrade money on an axle swap. |
