Default Black rims

I have 5 16x7 black steel rims (in my living room), that I plan to mount some 255 85 r16's on (waiting for delivery)....

I'm a little concerned how the black rims will look on my white disco..

Any opinions? pictures??

Not steel but they are black but I really like the black on white look.

What size lift are you running for the 255/85's? That's the size I'm considering for my next set of tires once there get a bit more worn out or I just have too much money laying around. But I'm thinking I'll need at least another inch maybe two. Plus HD axles and such things.

I have 2.5" Scorpion Racing springs(gives like 3"). I'm anticipating a fair amount of trimming, possibly flares.

Also running 4.11 R&P on the current 245 75 r16 tires. It will be nice to even the gearing out a bit.

BTW Nice pic. are those painted alloys??

Thanks; yeah they are painted. Although the body is no longer that nice. I wrinkled the lower side of the front fender and the two doors on a submerged stump.

A guy here at work just got his 4runner alloys powdercoated black. $55 per wheel. They came out phenomenal!

I think black wheels definitely look great on a white Disco, like butter and toast. Buddy Lee, your Disco looks stellar in that pic!!! I luv the "Killer Whale" look and yes, I'm biased.

Mines a DII but you get the Idea...

Cool pics.. I guess the black on white does have a bit of an Orca look to it..

I should get my tires this week barring anymore delays (long story), and after some trimming and installation i'll post some pics..

Skinny 33's? Hmm you mean 255/85-16's?

I've thought about those my next tires size upgrade after these is going to be either 255/85's or 285/75's I like the idea of the 255's better because I think the 285's are a bit wide but look good on a defender. But I can get the 285's as retreads for about half the price of the 255's

But I need to get at least an inch more lift and 4.11 gears with HD axles before the new tires so it's still a long time off. But it's good to have a plan for these things you know.

I like your style, Black steelies. Nothing say's "Built for off-road" like tall tires on black steel rim's. Alloy rim's can crack or even break if you go too hard off-road with them ( but they do decrese the unsprung weight ) steel will just bend, not good, but far better then cracked or broken as you can bend the lip of a rim back and still get home. Plus they are less $$$ so you can buy a 2nd spare. Ditch those "chrome won't get-cha home" Rap star junk and say hello to the ranks of the Anti-Bling!

I also like the 4.25" backspacing, for a little wider track and better turning radius..
