another option is the 235/85, slightly taller and a bit more narrow. Some trimming maybe required and it would be best to have a lift first. To be perfectly honest the lift really doesnt help much with trimming as the tire still goes into the wheel well the same, unless you run longer bumpstops of course, but it does look better!

well so far this week has been very nice as ive sold almost all of my extra wrx parts so ill be ordering some of my suspension 2" or 3" big blues (still cant decide)and pro comp es9000hd's after the holiday. then ill be trying to scrounge up the extra coins for the dislocation cones and rear brake lines hopefully by mid of next month.

as far as tires im going to stay with 245/75/16s and i am undecided as which to get. i went around today and looked around at a couple places and im pretty much looking at around $1100 for the set of 5. im going to go down to my old work tomarrow and see if i can still get a good deal as i know theyll take my old as a part trade in (probably $25 each).

$1100 is way too much for tires that size. try looking through craigslist or ebay for some 245/75/16 goodyear mtrs. rubicon owners are always taking them off for something bigger. you can usually a set for under $500

What one may need to upgrade/modify varies greatly depending on what kit is to be installed. OME may lift a DI approx 2" but, depending on what tire size is mounted, may require some trimming- certainly to the rear quarter pannels (if you want to tuck).

I'm not flamming you. Just clarifying for newbs: installing a "lift" requires a bit of thought process in terms of what tires you want to run, how much flex/drop you want, what your longer-term plans are, and how you plan to use the vehicle--not just today--but over the long haul. Otherwise, suspension modification can be costly & frustrating. A "lift" consists of a well-thought-out suspension re-engineering that should include both springs & shocks, bracketry, brake lines, and possibly suspension arms, depending on the model.

well put!:drink
I bought five super swamper SSR's for160.00 a piece at NTWonline.com, now i was given a discount of15.00 per tire becausei ordered something else and they were out of stock. But a great company to deal with!! order from them

Default General Tires

I agree that the BFG's are great, but I've got General Tire's Grabber AT2 on my disco. They are just as good as the BFG's off road, and they are better on road. Not to mention they are a lot cheaper. $96 each for my wife's disco 2, and $86 each for my disco 1. (stock size) Got them at tirerack.com

Hey Disco12 Can I ask about your rims. Are they the same in the before and after pics?
They seem to be stock alloys painted black, is this right? Do the stock wheels fit your big tyres? Cheers.

I know I'm not disco12 but they are stock rims and if I recall correctly he painted them black.

As for the tires you can fit some big tires on stock rim widths.
