All,
I've just had a 2" Emu lift on my Disco 2 and am looking at tyres to suit my 16" rims. I first thought of 31" but after getting talked to by my local 4x4 guys i'm tempted with 33's has anyone fitted a 33X12.50 before? if so whats the things to look for/cut/ modify etc. http://www.trailquest.com/tires/Supe...RXUS_STS.shtml Also i've been reading the threads about CV and Diff damage, I'll be mostly running on sand, perhaps the odd mild rocky outcrop. whats the real chances of damage? First thing to consider is you will loose more then 2 MPG and a large amount of torque. Your diffs are fairly weak and along with the axle will explode on somw sand trail.
265/75/16 are great. 285's are nearly within your trucks range even these can cause some advanced wear issues but 33's are going to be pushing the limits. By the way, I am running 265's, but I replaced the diff's with lockers and installed 4:11 gears with HD axles. Mike |

Cheers for the advice Mike,
To be honest Fuel is the least of my worries as its cheaper than water here . I used to run a 3.9 Classic in Scotland so I know what its like at the other end of the scale.I am worried about breaking diffs and i'm leaning towards 31" again. 33" was mentioned and it got me thinking..... Is there any straght swap 4:11 diffs for the Disco II? or rather is there any point if there all weak. Any advice is good advice. Boyter

You'll be fine with 33's. Don't be a chicken, you know you want them.
Been running 33's for over a year with no problems and without regearing.

Well, the decision has been made, 265/75/16 cooper STT. They were available and cheaper than anything else i've looked at. all the bigger tyres out here have to be imported on order which makes them damn expensive.
31.6" coopers....not quite 33 but close.
