Because the work required to install the 33's requires substantually more money and time.

Not that Im cheap, Im just allowing a set budget and amount of things to get done to the rover this year.

I am! I've learned to find good used parts to do my mods. I don't think one thing I have modded on my rig has been new. Short of the steering stabilizer

Yeah on my rover its like its all new parts, or repaired by myself. On my sports car, everything is 2nd hand or discarded to me.

Anyone know where I can get:

Larger Fender Flares for the DII - because I think I may need em

And a set of 16x8 rims for a reasonable cost because shipping is an arm and a leg from USA. Unless someone knows a place in Soviet Canuckistan. That is canada of course.

National 4WD, Canada's Only Coast to Coast Source for 4X4, Jeep, Light Truck and SUV Accessories has a store in Calgary. That's who I deal with in Quebec, great guys (here anyways).

I was there yesterday and they could only find 17" rims in my bolt pattern.

So I had this brain fart about off-sets today.

See, I can get some rims for my truck locally, they are the 16x8 off a range rover or some such. I declined for the time being. There were two reasons for this. One was its alloy, and I prefer steel with those kinda tires. 2ndly was I though the Off-set wouldn't work for a tire that wide and that the steel tires would push the tires to the outside more.

Am I crazy? Should I be admitted?

Another thought was to get the alloy's and run spacers. I donno.

ProComp series 8069 come in 16x8. Should be readily available from National 4wd. Worse case scenario I can call up my guy here in Quebec and have him find them and transfered to the Alberta branch

I might have to take you up on that. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what they can come up with.

Do you know what they are worth by chance?

Thanks.

So D2s run a 5x120 bolt circle, as opposed to a D1 which I thought is what you were shopping for.

In that size I'm finding tons of blinbling alloy wheels but no damn steel ones except for the generic "wolf" style ones in 16x8. I'll do some more searching this afternoon, I feel bad about misleading you

Ahh its okay. Im starting to have my doubts if those 12.50 boggers will accually fit in that wheel well. I personally think it will stick out too far for personal comfort.

Does anyone here think a 2" lift is enough for the 33's?

At least I got the rims narrowed down to what I need. LOL.

It depends on you... It will all boil down to how much body trimming and rubbing you can handle.

Smart man. No sense spending 800-1000 bucks or so on tires you will want to sell in a year. Dont get me wrong I love Boggers too but you could save yourself some coin going with the LTBs. They both suck on the street. Also the offset rims are going to cause even more rubbing. I think anything over 10.5 is going to create issues when the tire wants to tuck into the wheel well, offset rims are only going to make it worse. NATOS and skinny tall tires are what you want, but dont know if they make them for a D2. BTW the 34 x 10.5 LTBs are 33.6 inches, 255/85s are 33.3 so consider that size as well as even the BFGs are pretty cheap in that size. Then again depends on how much you want to cut. Check Dweb they may have more info on it. Gordo

Discovery Series II 99-04

<29"

255/65/16: Stock tire size.

255/55/18: optional stock size.

30"-31"

255/55/19: stock size for range rover III. works fine for DII

255/70/16: a little taller than stock.

245/75/16: a little taller than stock. tire manufacturers recommended these be fitted with 7" wheels, but 8" works fine.

32"

275/70/16: possible to fit without lift. minor rubbing.

265/75/16: possible to fit without lift. minor rubbing.

285/60/18: 32" tire for the 18" rim. costs much more than 16".

33"

285/75/16: even taller than 265/75-16, requires around 3" of lift. Very wide and requires trimming. consider upgrading to hd axles & getting lower gears.

255/85/16: a bit taller than 285/75-15 but narrower. consider upgrading to hd axles & getting lower gears.

I would really recommend the gears with the 33's I got passed by a toyota prius coming off an on ramp.

oh and here is the link to the thread I pulled that info from Basic Tire Information
