Talking Got New Rubber...

I got new tires, thanks to Drum655. They came in on Thursday and I can't wait to get them mounted. I will be using my former high school's auto shop to use a lift. I'd have access to a tire machine and wheel balancer. Really cool tires!! Bigger than what I had expected and wider too!! Even though one is a Michelin and the rest are Dunlop Grandtreks, these tires are awesome! Again thanks to Drum655.

They are all 255/65 on a 16". The Michelin XPC's are not too expensive, but I won't be getting another one to match, at least I don't think I need to. I like these ones though. I will mount the Michelin on the front and the Dunlops to follow.

Oh and it is only 3 Dunlop's and 1 Michelin.

good question , I was thinking the latter of those two. 3 and 1....unmatching. 4 and 1 with unmatching spare would be much better

Any Four wheel drive with a different tire on it will cause damage to the transfer case and even the Transmission.

The reason is rolling circumference. If the rolling circumference is off it will damage the tire.

take a piece of string and measure the four tires, if the Dunlop is different do not put a new one on till you have the fourth Michelin XPC. Otherwise you will risk damage to the Transfer case.

This is true for all transfer cases regardless of manufacturer. If you dont believe me ask a tire store. Tell them you want mount three tires and then fourth being different and they will advise you against it for the same reason.

Also too does the school use a Aluminum tire machine or a steel wheel tire machine. You will damage the rims if you use the wrong machine.

Also too if they use a steel machine chances are they do not have aluminum wheel weights.

To clarify, I have 3 Dunlop Grandtreks and 1 Michelin XPC.

I did do the string method, and all tires are matching measurements, the Michelin is not off by anything, so that makes me happy.

My former high school's tire machines are for steel for half the tire machines, while the rest are all aluminum, at least that is what my instructor told me. He has never steered me wrong, so I will just take his word for it.

I was gonna bring that up as well, we have tire balancers for all types of wheels, including my aluminum rims. How/where do I apply the aluminum weights to? Like hald inch into the wheel or what?

Talking Got new rubber, and I mounted them!!!

Nevermind the balancing, it is taken care of, and so is the mounting!!!!!!

Josh R. (drum655), thank you so much for the new tires, man the ride is beyond what I expected, and it rides smooth, even on the freeway. The trade off for using my high school's shop, was I had to repair one of the tire machines there as a favor, so that made it even. Now I can see what she's got off-road!!!

And another pic for Serg, the LRO sticker!

Very awesome stuff! The funny thing is, today, my mom and I, after mounting my tires, I followed her to the local Belle Tire to have her wheels balanced, and to my surprise, she needed tires as badly as I did.:lol Anyways, the manager was so cool to let me go into the shop area there, and he directly showed me the tire tread peeling off the steel belts! So I immediately told him to mount and balance new tires, which the balancing was free of course. My mom was shocked about this, first me, now her, what a coincidence.

So now, me and her have brand new rubber.

I just ROFLMAO after telling her that one.
